Japanese cinematographer. He is a member of the Japan Society of Cinematographers (JSC). In 1972, he graduated from Chiyoda College of Photography. From 1975 to 1976 he belonged to Mifune Productions. He worked on various films as a camera operator and in related roles. In 1985, he earned his first credit as director of photography for Seijun Suzuki's film "Capone Cries a Lot". He has often collaborated with Shun Nakahara, Masato Harada, and Yoichi Sai, but he does not work exclusively with a specific director; he has worked with many different directors. He has received numerous awards for his work.
